Snow Days & Early Dismissal

Should conditions develop that lead to school closings, announcements will be broadcast on WDEB and TV channels 24, and 5. You should also receive a text message or phone call from an automated call system. (Let secretaries know if you are not but would like to receive automated messages.)

Please notify the front office of any phone or email changes during the school year to keep from missing important announcements.

Cell Phone Policy

FENTRESS COUNTY SCHOOLS 2016-17 CELL PHONE POLICY

Elementary Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones are NOT permitted at school due to the disruption to the learning environment. If a student has a need for after school phone use, he/she must check the phone into the office to his/her teacher upon arrival at school. The phone will be returned to the student upon dismissal at the end of the school day.

Violations:
1st offense – The phone will be confiscated until given to the student at the end of the day.

2nd offense – The phone will be confiscated and the parent/guardian will be required to come to the
School and pick up the phone.

3rd offense – The phone will be confiscated for three (3) days with the addition of corporal punishment
or three (3) days Alternative School being given to the student. The parent/guardian will
be required to come to the school and pick up the phone. 

FILMING, RECORDING OR DISTRIBUTING AND VIOLATIONS OF SCHOOL RULES WITH TECHNOLOGY
1st offense – Five (5) days of Alternative School and court referral. The device used will be confiscated and
locked in the school vault until the court date.

2nd offense – Ten (10) days of Alternative School and court referral. the device used will be confiscated
and locked in the school vault until the court date.

3rd offense – Long-term Alternative School Placement.
Parents must pick up the cell phone for each offense.
